About me

I tell stories about the world. About science and nature, and the places where wonder can found.

I also help others to uncover and shape stories they’d like to tell. I write and record and hold rooms together.

Work life

I studied science at university but I began my working life as an actor. For ten years I performed in some hugely inspiring venues, and with some truly inspiring people. I worked at the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Shakespeare’s Globe. I learned the power of words. And a lot too about humanity, and teamwork, and communication.

I also worked in this time as a trainer and facilitator, using theatre techniques to support businesses, charities, and government departments to be more cohesive, creative, honest, human.

In the late twenty tens I wanted to bring more science into my work so I set up a production company and completed a masters in Science Communication. Since then I’ve produced science inspired radio content, podcasts, live events, plays, walking tours, training courses, websites, museum exhibits and more.

To me science is a creative act. It is, like the theatre, an atempt to glance around one corner of the world we all share. And in my work I aim to help more people to enjoy that seeking.

Personal life

I grew up in the Pennine hills near Manchester in the North West of England. There I walked past empty, crumbling factories and the rain soaked into my shoes, on my way to rehearse plays at my small local theatre.

Now I live in Cambridgeshire with my family. I enjoy walking, gardening, and sitting around campfires with the people I love.
